What You Were About to Say

What were you about to say? Why didn't you say it?

Hi, it’s Jasmyne with Relate Family Therapy in Centennial, Colorado. And today I want to talk about what you were about to say. I often have people talk to me about what they were about to say. Not what they actually said, but what they thought about saying, what they wanted to say, what they left unsaid. That is the difference between who you are and who you want to be. Being able to reflect on what you were about to say is a brave moment for you. It’s a chance for you to decide: was that in anger? Was that from a place that I really didn’t want to go because of fear? Was I just uncomfortable? Did I not know how to follow up with that? Reflecting on what you were about to say is a great way to check in with who are and who you want to be.
