Motivation

It's just one of those days, so how do you move through it?

Hi, it’s Jasmyne with Relate Family Therapy in Centennial, Colorado, and I have a secret. Today I am really tired. It happens once in a while. Things get in the way. Things come up. Maybe you just didn’t sleep well, or maybe you’re not feeling well. Maybe you’re worried about something in your life, but you still have commitments. You still have to go to school or work, or you still have to be Mom or Dad. You still have to face whatever’s going on in your day. When that happens, how do you motivate yourself to get there? What do you do to put yourself out there? How do you stay in that place where you’re a little bit uncomfortable or a little tired… Maybe even a little bit grumpy? What do you do to get through? Getting through is huge part of our lives. There are often times when we’re challenged, and we have to move in a new way, and we have to say, “Okay. I get that I’m not feeling my best, or I’m not 100%, but I’m able to get through this as best I can and move forward,” People that aren’t able to do that often really suffer. There’s a lot of anxiety that comes with that. There’s guilt. There’s shame and embarrassment for people that can’t follow through for whatever reason. There are people that experience disease or pain or some things that really limit their ability to follow through, but if you’re not one of those people and you’re just having an okay day, what do you do to motivate yourself? Finding that motivation, thinking about your goals, staying confident that you know that today’s going to be just one of those days and you’ll get through it is a good way to start.
