Rediscover the joy of putting yourself out there and being available to others. Stop by, share with others, and give of your time again. This entire culture of let them, learn to say “no”, and find time for yourself, has gone a bit overboard now.
I am the first person who retreats from public displays and over extroverted activities on an ongoing basis. I often am less available than others in both physical space and mental energy, especially up front. I pour all of myself into so many things day to day that it leaves my capacity low for friendships and connection outside of my scheduled day.
I am here to say that needs to change in me and in you. I called a friend the other day, really because I felt a text wouldn’t be enough to convey what I wanted to talk about, not because I wanted to talk on the phone. She answered right away and was actually pleasantly surprised by the call and having a real conversation for a few minutes. It was nice.
