As a parent, it is important to know that your child is getting the help that they need while feeling safe and supported. At Relate Family Therapy, we work with the family unit to find the most effective ways to meet the goals of the individual family members.
We use an integrated therapeutic approach to meet the client’s goals, which helps children to feel empowered around their treatment plan. Expressive Arts and Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Structural Therapy are some of the evidence-based treatment methods used at Relate Family Therapy.
CBT, which includes shifting thought distortions and finding new ways to provide reinforcement, is also incorporated into the work done at Relate Family Therapy and Counseling. With CBT, the therapist can work with the client and their family to form individual or family treatment goals. These goals are measurable and provide a good point of reference and source of empowerment for all involved in the process. This form of therapy can be valuable when working with schools and other professionals to help with case management and a systemic approach.
Expressive Arts and Play Therapy, including sand tray and art, are incorporated into therapy. These modalities help children to find ways to express their feelings and concerns. Even when kids can’t find the words, these forms of therapy can provide them a way to work through the trauma they are experiences. At Relate, we will work with children as young as three to process feelings and work through concerns that are difficult to share. Jasmyne is a Registered Play Therapist and a Certified System Sandtray Therapist.
