About Me
I am thrilled to be completing my internship at Relate, an environment that perfectly aligns with my goals for a supportive, creative, and collaborative workplace. Alongside my studies, I currently work as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) in an elementary school, supporting neurodivergent children. This role has deepened my understanding of behavioral therapy and further solidified my passion for creating meaningful connections with clients.
Outside of my professional endeavors, I value spending quality time with my partner, my cats, my friends, and myself. Self-care plays a vital role in my own mental health, and I enjoy hiking, practicing yoga, thrifting, exploring new restaurants, and attending live music shows.
As a classically trained violinist and private instructor, I also take great joy in teaching my five students, who range in age from a first grader to adults. Sharing my musical knowledge and witnessing their growth is incredibly rewarding. Although I don’t often get the chance to play with other musicians these days, I hope to reconnect with that side of my musical life soon.
My Background
While I’ve embraced a new chapter in Denver, Colorado, I’m still a Florida girl at heart, cherishing visits to the beaches and wildlife of my home state and maintaining a strong connection to my Puerto Rican heritage.
After completing my bachelor’s degree in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, I returned to Orlando and began working at a vertical hydroponic lettuce farm. This role presented me with an exciting opportunity to relocate to Denver in late 2021 to help open a new farm. Although I had never visited Colorado before, I eagerly accepted the chance, knowing my passion for the outdoors would make it the perfect place for me.
Nearly two years later, I faced a layoff that ultimately became a turning point in my career. It allowed me to pivot toward a helping profession, leading to my enrollment in graduate school—a decision that has brought me immense fulfillment.
My Approach
As a therapist, I aim to use a trauma-informed, person-centered, humanistic, and existential approach. I incorporate creative therapies such as art, music, and play. Authenticity is central to my work, as I strive to build trustworthy and open therapeutic relationships where clients feel safe to express themselves without judgment. By fostering self-awareness and encouraging transformative self-discovery, I hope to empower individuals to embrace their authentic selves and commit to personal growth.
As a registered behavior technician, I have extensive experience using behavioral therapy and working with neurodivergent children, including children with ADHD, anxiety, and behavioral concerns.
