About Me
I grew up in Minneapolis, MN in a divorced family. My family dynamic changed multiple times while I grew up so I have a wide definition of “family”. I received my undergraduate degree from Grand View University in Des Moines, IA before joining AmeriCorps NCCC, which allowed me to live/work in a new city every 6-12 weeks. I officially moved to Denver, CO in 2020 and have been here ever since.
I have always loved people and am happiest when my work involves supporting people. After my undergrad I joined AmeriCorps NCCC (think domestic Peace Corps) to serve non-profits all over the United States. Once COVID hit, I moved to Colorado to help with the state’s mitigation efforts. Once things calmed down, I took some time to explore a variety of careers but none of them felt as meaningful as my work serving people. After some time spent working as an office manager at a therapy office I eventually decided to go back to school to get my masters in Marriage and Family Therapy.
I like to say I live a “full and vibrant life”! When I am not working, I fill my time with rock climbing, yoga, and traveling for dance competitions with my fiancé. I am always trying to squeeze as much adventure into my life as possible! On restful days I love reading and paint by numbers.
FUN FACT: I compete in West Coast Swing which takes me all over the US and even abroad! My Fiancé and I have built a wonderful community of people from all over the world through our shared love for dance and connection.
I hope to use Narrative Based Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Internal Family Systems to inform my work with clients. I am excited to work with a broad range of clients.
As a Marriage and Family Therapist I come at all sessions through a relational lens. I believe humans are relational beings and wired for connection. No one lives in a bubble and the people we interactive with have an impact on us. I see therapy as a safe space for people to explore topics and patterns that feel uncomfortable and vulnerable. The client is the expert of their own experience; I am just here to support you on your journey.
I am open to working with a wide range of clients and hope to meet whoever I work with where they are at. I am certified in Art Therapy and Yoga Teacher Trained on top of my therapy training, so I love incorporating creative self-expression and mindfulness into my work.
