About Me
“I try to build each session around the needs of the client. With children I like to incorporate play or art therapy to help explore and process feelings and experiences. When possible, I take a person-centered approach by letting the client guide the session. I provide support and reflections to help interpret their thoughts.
As a Colorado native, I have lived in Aurora, Colorado my entire life. I am the youngest of four boys, so my childhood was a bit chaotic but memorable. I love to visit the mountains whenever I can.
I wanted to work at a counseling center that works with a wide range of populations in a wide range of modalities which landed me at Relate.
I spend most of my time with my fiancé and in my free time and I enjoy watching a lot of movies, playing video games, going to concerts and hiking.
I always knew I wanted to help people in my career in some way or another. I started my bachelors degree as pre-med but pivoted after taking intro to Psychology. Throughout my time in my undergrad program I felt more and more drawn towards counseling. My past work and education experiences have given me the belief that everyone has a story to tell and you never know what someone is going through. This way of thinking helped me decide to pursue a career in counseling.
I have experience working with children and teens. Adjusting through life changes, trauma, bullying and school issues and family dynamics. I approach each session with a humanistic perspective, and I try to incorporate person-centered and narrative-based therapy approaches and strategies.
I think therapy is beneficial whether you have a “problem” to fix or not. Everyone can benefit from experiencing counseling throughout their life.
I hope that when a client comes to a session with me, they can feel there is no judgment and that they can be open and honest and we can work towards a trusting connection. I believe building this kind of therapeutic relationship and environment to completely open up is essential to having a positive counseling experience.
When interacting with clients I maintain the mindset that everyone deserves the opportunity to have the best mental health care possible.
