I was born in Afghanistan but grew up in Los Angeles, California. I have an undergraduate degree in Child Development with a concentration in Family Counseling and Services from California State University Dominguez Hills and a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Harding University.
My family and I fled Afghanistan during the Afghan civil war, seeking refuge in Los Angeles, where I lived for 25 years. When I married my amazing husband, I moved, became a mom, and decided it was time to explore who I was and what I truly wanted out of life. My journey of self-discovery and independence led me to pursue a career as a therapist.
After my husband completed his Medical Psychiatric Residency in Arkansas, we decided to settle in Castle Pines, Colorado, and I met Jasmyne, the Executive Director of Relate Family Therapy. I just knew this was the type of place I wanted to work. At Relate, I’ve found a place where I can grow professionally, surrounded by a diverse clientele that enhances my skills as a therapist.
I love traveling and have visited many states across the U.S. and countries around the world. I have three kids, and I enjoy spending quality time with my family. We like attending sports events, visiting museums, exploring parks, and trying new restaurants. Cooking, including Afghan cuisine, is a passion of mine, along with Pilates, yoga, and outdoor activities like hiking. I also ABSOLUTELY LOVE stand-up comedy as laughter is my therapy.
My Approach
I like to take a collaborative approach to therapy. We are doing this together.
I may use CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, Experiential Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Narrative Therapy, or another modality depending on your needs. I have seen the effectiveness of Experiential Therapy firsthand.
I enjoy working with clients from all backgrounds. My extensive training includes working with adults, children, seniors, families, couples, and individuals, addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, addictions, and trauma. While I enjoy all types of therapy, I am passionate about helping couples and parents.
I believe that everyone has the potential for change and that even small steps can lead to significant transformations. I find it incredibly rewarding to witness clients realize their strengths and capabilities, often in ways they never thought possible.
