CHRONIC/ TERMINAL ILLNESS

Having a member of the family who has a chronic or terminal illness can be a painful event for a family. Sometimes it feels like you're just in limbo waiting for something bad to happen. It feels awful to just want the suffering to go away, but not wanting to lose your family member. It's physically, emotionally, and spiritually exhausting for everyone. The person with the illness feels isolated, and it can be hard on everyone when all the typical "norms and rules" of families are thrown out of the window.

The therapists at Relate Family Therapy and Counseling can help every member of the family find their voice in this process. Whether the illness takes place over months or years, it can be brutal for a family to manage the difficulties that come with chronic or terminal illnesses. You can, however, find connection, new ways to communicate, and better ways to support each other during this. We can help.
