About Me
Hi, I’m Drew! I grew up in Folsom, CA, and I’ve lived in Colorado for five years. I have bachelor’s degrees in philosophy and religious studies from St. Mary’s College of California. I am also working towards my master’s in clinical mental health counseling at Colorado Christian University.

A lot of my downtime is spent just being with my wife and our son. My favorite place to visit is the mountains. Being outside on a hike helps slow my mind down and gives me perspective. Life can be hard but being in the mountains reminds me that there are beauties that are unchanged by the craziness of my life.

As far as hobbies go, I love to rock climb. It functions as my exercise and my play time. I also have become an avid gardener recently. Tending to the plants and soil grounds me and helps me to slow down and appreciate little things. I like watching basketball, and I’m a big fan of the Sacramento Kings. I also am a bit of a nerd and enjoy listening to history podcasts when I’m driving. The Rest is History is my favorite.

My Background

I spent four years working with people experiencing homelessness in downtown Denver. I learned during that time that I absolutely love sitting with people and hearing their stories. Being a pillar of support and a listening ear was by far the most gratifying part of the job. However, I felt that that the copious amount of paperwork that comes with case management limited my ability to connect with others in a way that is important to me. So, I decided to begin a career as a counselor where my gift and passion for transformative relationships can reach its full expression.

I am passionate about helping people heal from intense trauma, and I have focused a lot of my study and work specifically on this topic. I hope to help my clients remove the obstacles that are keeping them from being fully and vibrantly themselves and come to a deeper understanding of who they are.

My Approach

I believe that all good therapy starts with a good relationship. I strive to be a trustworthy, compassionate, and understanding therapist that creates a space where my clients feel safe enough to do the intense work of healing. Once we have that down, there is little we cannot accomplish together.

I often utilize Narrative Therapy and Gestalt in my sessions, and a therapy session with me will be one in which we work collaboratively towards the goals that you have in mind. I have ideas and things that I think work well, but what is most important to me is that my clients are open and honest with me. If something isn’t working and you have an idea of something else to try, let’s try it!
