The therapists at Relate Family Therapy & Counselingunderstand the beauty and the hardship of blending families. It can be incredible when it works, but getting to that point can take a neutral party to help you maneuver through the challenges. A therapist can help the whole family feel connected, supported, and heard.
Blended Family Concerns
It's hard to integrate members of different families into a new family. Maybe your partner has a child from a previous relationship, you do as well, and then you also have children together. It's difficult to know how to manage the family, the various disciplinary methods and parenting styles, and the different schedules and bonds among the family members. Having some siblings at home and others not can feel disjointed. There can be lapses in communication around parenting. It's confusing, disorienting, and often frustrating.
