About Me
I am Jenny Emerson (she/her/hers), a therapist at Relate dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges. My journey began with a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Accounting from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and becoming a licensed CPA. However, my deep curiosity about people’s unique stories and experiences led me to pursue a Master’s in Couples and Family Therapy at the University of Colorado, Denver. I have completed the Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) externship and continuing advanced training in EFT Core Skills.
I grew up in the Midwest and experienced various complex life transitions: marriage, motherhood, parenting, grief/loss, career transitions, and divorce. My experience and clinical training fuel my passion to support teens, young adults, individuals, families, couples, and co-parents/single parents. My therapeutic approach is rooted in attachment theory. I draw upon Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to work with a couple. Additionally, I integrate solution-focused, behavioral, mindfulness, and narrative interventions depending on the client’s needs. As a former professional recruiter with a background in accounting, I bring a unique perspective on career transitions and financial issues that can impact individuals, couples, and families. Being a single mother, I can relate to the challenges of divorce and co-parenting, allowing me to provide empathetic support.
I cherish time with my children, family, and friends. I’m an avid volunteer, engaging in youth organizations and community initiatives. I want to create a safe and supportive space where clients can feel seen, heard, and validated. I believe in the resilience of individuals and relationships. I am passionate about helping clients understand their part in a relationship to improve their lives. With me, you can expect a collaborative and compassionate therapeutic experience that honors your unique experiences and identities. Let’s embark on a journey of growth and healing together.
