Hello, I’m Laura!

LMFT

I help individuals, couples and families produce effective, positive change in their lives. I believe that every person has the ability to take control of his or her own life by empowering themselves. I have successfully worked with clients from all walks of life to help them achieve their goals and create new ways of looking at their future.

I was born and raised in Chicago’s northern suburbs where my husband and I started our family and I began my journey into the field of counseling. Shortly after receiving my Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Northeastern Illinois University, we were blessed with triplet boys and all of the related joys and challenges of parenthood. While raising our sons, I attended school part time and received a Master’s Degree in Human Services and Counseling Studies. During this time, we also brought our daughter into the world to complete our family.
We later relocated to Colorado with our sons in high school and our daughter in middle school, which created a sense of adventure combined with some apprehension. During this time of transition and meeting new parents of all ages, I recognized that many couples are thrust into parenthood with very little education or training other than through their own upbringing. With my own support system diminished, I enrolled in the Parent Coaching Institute in Seattle, WA and received a Parent Coaching certificate. This allowed me to build on my own parenting foundation and provided me with the skills necessary to guide, educate and coach other parents.

While coaching many parents, I still felt that I was missing a critical component to ensuring a successful family dynamic. I then decided to further my education and registered with the Denver Family Institute, where I completed my post graduate education and received a Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) certification. I also completed core skills training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) concentrating on adult relationships, attachment and bonding, with a focus on creating more secure bonds and developing trust to move relationships in a healthy, positive direction. I now specialize in helping families and couples with relationship and behavioral issues to develop and implement successful treatment plans.

When my clients sit with me it is important to me that I am fully present and it is my goal to make sure they feel safe and secure to share stories about their past and present. I have seen that these stories translate into possibilities that they have been searching for which I am able to witness and share with them.
In my spare time I seek all that Colorado has to offer, whether a walk in the sunshine, fly-fishing on a quiet river, or enjoying the splendor of the mountains. I also have a passion for meditation and appreciate the spiritual side of life.
