Hello, I’m Emily

Certified Child and Adolescent Trauma Specialist, and Unlicensed Psychotherapist

I believe the best things in life come along when we have balance, and therapy is no different! The balance between naming where there is accountability and having support while providing a safe, non-judgmental place to do it.

Hello! I am from Castle Rock, Colorado. I was born and raised in this beautiful state, and I enjoyed every second! In my free time I enjoy being on the boat, hiking, and camping. I spend time with my friends and family and love to experience new adventures in this perfect state.

We all experience hardships and difficulties. Life has a way of throwing things in front of us when we lease expect it. But knowing that there are people out there who will sit in a space of understanding and respect can make the difference. Building a client up when everything has knocked them down is the foundation of my work and what I strive for. I come from a place of patience and curiosity without judgment. I believe that everything happens for a reason and that, in order to get to the bottom of that reason, we unearth the deep corners of our mind in therapy, often realizing in the process that we are not alone. I believe in laughter and love, being patient and kind, and that we are in this together.
I enjoy working with tweens and teens. As kids move into the teen years, having an outside source of support in therapy can help them understand their perspective better. With the work, I can help to give the tweens and teens a place to share what they are feeling and want for the future with their parents.

I always knew I wanted to help people. I started out as a Radiology major, but quickly learned that it was not the path for me. I decided to go into Social Work knowing that every day would be something new, that I would be challenged constantly, and that I could make a positive impact on the world. The more I spent time with other professionals, I realized that I wanted to do therapy and walk beside someone as they break through the struggles and help them thrive. I worked in child welfare for four years and spent the last of those years as a counselor in a high school working with high risk students. I have experience with adoptions, addiction, couples, relational and marital work, children and adolescents, and both individual and group counseling. I have run groups for those addicted to substances and for those who simply needed to talk through a struggle in their personal lives. I provided the safe space for these clients to build the foundation that they needed to move their lives toward a different direction.
Adults often overlook their own needs until they are in crisis. I hope to have clients that know they can come to me for non-judgmental support and maybe even a laugh or two. Working through previous trauma or dealing with something that is currently going on can be empowering. Helping someone that hasn’t felt that support in the past can provide such a positive impact on the person’s life.
