Christine Ray-Saelee, M.Ed., LPC

Hello, I’m Christine

Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate

I am passionate about the change that can happen through the therapeutic process and feel deep joy over getting to walk alongside someone in their process of healing. I believe in empowering those I work with to rewrite their own narrative through creating a safe space for non-judgmental, honest and hopeful conversation that ultimately reflects back to them their inherent value and worth.

The most important part of building a therapeutic relationship, is to know that I am not the expert of your life. I use empathy and create a nonjudgmental environment, allowing humor and the collaborative effort to work toward realistic goals.

I WANT YOU TO FEEL COMFORTABLE AND AT EASE TO TELL YOUR STORY AND WORK ON THE CURRENT CHALLENGES TAKING PLACE IN YOUR LIFE. I WANT THIS TO BE A TEAM EFFORT AND ESTABLISH THE GOALS YOU ARE WANTING. MY ROLE IS TO PROVIDE COMFORT AND SUPPORT AS YOU DEVELOP AND DISCOVER YOURSELF THROUGH THE THERAPEUTIC PROCESS.

I STARTED MY CAREER WORKING WITH ADOLESCENTS WHO WERE PREGNANT AND PARENTING IN HIGH SCHOOL. THIS OPENED THE DOOR TO MY VARIOUS EXPERIENCES WORKING WITH YOUNG, GROWING ADULTS AND FAMILIES. IN THE HEART OF ST. LOUIS, MO, AS A SCHOOL-BASED THERAPIST, I GAINED FURTHER KNOWLEDGE OF THE RACIAL AND SOCIOECONOMIC CHALLENGES TAKING PLACE IN OUR COMMUNITIES. FAST FORWARD THREE YEARS AND I BECAME A SOCIAL WORKER HERE IN COLORADO, MANAGING A VARIETY OF CASES INVOLVING CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS EXPERIENCING TRAUMA, PARENTAL ABUSE AND NEGLECT, COUPLES COUNSELING AND MEDIATION, AND OTHER CHAOTIC SITUATIONS. IN THIS TIME, NOT ONLY DID IT ALLOW ME TO GAIN EXPERIENCE IN THE CHILD WELFARE AND COURT SYSTEMS, IT REMINDED ME OF MY TRUE PASSION: HELPING CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS, FAMILIES, AND COUPLES IN THEIR TIME OF CRISIS OR DISTRESS.
