We head for the hills. What can you do to bring your family together?

Hi, everybody. It’s Jasmyne with Relate Family Therapy in Centennial, Colorado, and this week we headed for the hills. We love to go up to the mountains in the fall. It’s really important to us because it’s become a tradition. We like to spend the time together, swimming, and going on nature walks, and having some s’mores. It’s something that when our kids know fall’s coming, they look forward to and say, “When are we going to go to the mountains?” It’s consistent and predictable, and kids love those two things. Families spending that time together is joyful, and there has been study after study that has shown that families like to be able to spend time together as opposed to just giving each other gifts. It’s something that creates… It’s something they can look forward to and they can value. Next time you have a little time, look at your family traditions. It can be something simple, just like watching a favorite TV show together or making sure that you spend time together going out on walks. Families love to have something together. Being able to do it and making sure that you know that it’s your tradition can help your family come closer together.
